The Islamic art collection of the Benaki Museum is housed in a complex of neoclassical buildings located in the historical center of Athens and once the Harokopos family residence. Antonis Benakis initially started collecting in Egypt at the beginning of the 20th century and the resulting collection rivals the world’s best representations of Islamic art, geographically and chronologically.
